To Each His Own Essay Example For Students

To Each His Own Essay Perhaps the soonest memory is of me, eyes shut, bowing by my bed, quietly disclosing to God everything that I was appreciative for. I had seen an on-screen character do it in a film, and it persuaded my effectively affected, unfledged, youthful self to attempt it, ideally bringing about the beginning of an involved acquaintance with God. I took a stab at supplicating a couple of more occasions throughout the years, and, each time, it felt like I had called Heaven, and was sent directly to phone message. Eight days after my introduction to the world, I had my bris, or circumcision service. From that day on, in understanding to my Jewish mother’s will, I rehearsed Judaism. We will compose a custom article on To Each His Own particularly for you for just $16.38 $13.9/page Request now Each Sunday, I went to the main sanctuary in San Antonio, and found out about Jewish convictions, conventions, qualities, and practices. When class finished, I would get into the rearward sitting arrangement of my recuperating Catholic, brought into the world again Atheist father’s naval force blue Forerunner, to be welcomed by the inquiry that has brought about more carnage than whatever other inquiry that has ever been posed: â€Å"Is there a God? † I obliged learning Hebrew, going to Sunday school, and every other thing that were required by the sanctuary, until there was increasingly more discussion about my affirmation function. In Judaism, getting affirmed implies that one makes the pledge to rehearse the religion for a mind-blowing rest. Since I had been a moderately ardent adherent for the entirety of my pre-pubescent life, getting affirmed was thought of as something that was clear. Be that as it may, in every one of the fourteen years, I had never discovered any importance in the writings, felt any security with the Jewish people group, or built up any kind of association with God. I asked myself, â€Å"Just in light of the fact that my own fragile living creature and blood, and a great many others, think something, does that make it without a doubt valid? This inquiry evoked many, numerous contemplations and began in an internal fight, the members being two inconceivably various methods of thought. At long last, I concluded that I didn't have confidence in a God, prodding my choice to not get affirmed, which legitimately brought about the farewell party among Judaism and I. In the wake of hearing my goals to not rehearse Judaism any longer, my dad was practically unconcerned, content with any decision I made all alone. My mom, then again, didn’t take my choice quite well. Going to administrations on Yom Kippur is the standard in Reform Judaism, and, since the time I admitted to my doubt in God, she for all intents and purposes gave me reasons to not go to them. It appeared as though she was trying to claim ignorance of my strict perspectives, never needing to go up against them head on. Right up 'til the present time, we still haven’t had a conversation concerning our contrasting strict perspectives, however a solid feeling of ‘live and let live’ has gotten obvious in our family life. I was naturally introduced to a liberal family, that is tolerating of a remarkably wide scope of sentiments, so the value that I needed to pay, which was a little clash concerning the varying convictions in my family, was temporary, finishing nearly when it began. The positives all additional to my self-improvement, helping me become the straightforward, stubborn, and tolerating individual that I am today. A couple of months back, I discovered on a Twain quote that impeccably epitomizes my point of view. He recommends â€Å"whenever you wind up on the greater part, the time has come to stop and reflect. His knowledge can be applied to any choice, large or little, that has, and will, at any point been made. It impeccably clarifies why I tested a conviction that has been held in my family since before the American Gilded Age, which, adventitiously, was named by Twain himself. My folks ingrained in me the benefit of posing inquiries where there is question, to not acknowledge everything that I am told, and expected, to accept. They raised me to be an intellectual, who follows just when following is appropriate. My grandma kicked the bucket a couple of years after I first straightforwardly came up short on a confidence in God, so I was certain that when you pass on, you pass on. .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a , .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a .postImageUrl , .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a .focused content territory { min-tallness: 80px; position: relative; } .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a , .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a:hover , .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a:visited , .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a:active { border:0!important; } .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a { show: square; progress: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-change: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; obscurity: 1; progress: murkiness 250ms; webkit-progress: darkness 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a:active , .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a:hover { haziness: 1; change: mistiness 250ms; webkit-change: darkness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a .focused content zone { width: 100%; position: relati ve; } .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a .ctaText { outskirt base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: intense; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; text-enrichment: underline; } .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; fringe: none; outskirt span: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; text style weight: striking; line-stature: 26px; moz-outskirt range: 3px; text-adjust: focus; text-beautification: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-tallness: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/straightforward arrow.png)no-rehash; position: outright; right: 0; top: 0; } .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .ucac0f7c31 ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a .focused content { show: table; stature: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .ucac0f7c31ed977fdb10ca04554a0063a:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: 10 unique renditions of the game EssayI was near her, and didn’t assume the misfortune well overall. Ark of the Covenant Samuel 4-5Amy Bernhardt Essays - Neviim

Ark of the Covenant: Samuel 4-5Amy Bernhardt In these two sections there is a fight among Israelites and Philistine. Ebenezer is the campsite for the Israelites and Aphek is the Philistines camping area. The Philistines set out and as the fight wore on Philistines crushed the Israelites slaughtering around 4,000. After the fight, they addressed God for what reason did he carry destruction to them. They chose to bring the Ark of the Covenant from Shiloh believing this would spare them from their adversaries. In the wake of hearing the Hebrews celebrating on the appearance of the agreement the Philistines asked why they were cheering. This welcomed on another fight vanquishing the Israelites indeed, this time losing 30,000 warriors, The Ark of God was caught, Eli's two children Hophni and Phinehas kicked the bucket (OAB 407)..= around the same time a Benjamite trooper ran from the fight at and went to Shiloh to locate the older Eli to reveal to him the news. Eli caught wind of the loss of his children, however after catching wind of the Ark of God he fell in reverse off his seat and broke his neck. He had driven Israel for a long time (OAB 407). Phinehas widow conceived an offspring directly after updates on his demise. She herself was biting the dust and the lady who was regulating the birth advised her to loosen up she had a kid and she disregarded her. The kid was named Ichabod signifying The Glory has left from Israel,(OAB 407) because of the loss of her dad in-law and her significant other and the catch of the Ark of God. The Philistines take the ark to the city of Ashdod putting it in Dagon's sanctuary and setting it close to Dagon. The following day Dagon was found with his head and hands severed his body. Nobody has entered this sanctuary until kingdom come. God's hand was overwhelming over the individuals of Ashdod (OAB 407). He carried pulverization and beset the individuals with tumors. They at that point moved the ark to Gath. This city was additionally distressed with tumors and chosen to send the ark to the city of Ekron. The individuals of this city wouldn't take it in dread of God's anger. The chose to send it back to its appropriate spot. Whoever didn't kick the bucket from this was distressed with tumors, both the youthful and old with God hearing their cries (OAB 408). The view I and getting from these two parts is the God was extremely frantic at Israel already and left them between a rock and a hard place in the primary fight. The Israelites exacerbated things by moving this Ark of God from its blessed spot into the perspective on each and every individual who was not assume to see it. God basically abandoned Israel for this permitting Philistine to execute and catch the ark. This ark was moved to three unique urban areas before it was come back to its legitimate spot. After the principal city was distressed by death and tumors one would figure it would be come back to its heavenly place. To have had the option to keep the ark without results would have been an enormous prize for Philistine and without God's counter for the catch of the ark could have completely changed this entire whole book. I additionally feel that individuals' insatiability assumes control over the choice procedure permitting shady judgment and terrible repercussions. At last , the individuals who kicked the bucket not from knowing about their own misfortunes however the catch of the Ark of God shows astonishing confidence and love for their maker.

“Columbine High School/Littleton, Co.” Analytical Essay

Ryan Douvlos English 050 Analytical Essay Imaginative writing is an art that expresses ideas and thoughts in an imaginative way. This art involves universal laws of human nature, and both time and place. Without connecting the reader through these principles, the author’s work is somewhat meaningless. In order for the author to gain something through his/her work, the author must be able to manipulate the perceptions of the reader. This can be done by successfully incorporating the five elements of craft found in literature. These elements function to focus the reader towards a specific end, and the five elements include: image, voice, character, setting and story. There is one single character presented in this poem, and that is the woman in the photograph who is leaning against the beam. She is portrayed directly; mainly through the image of the photograph the reader is given. The woman is also represented through action and thoughts as well. In this poem, the reader is told that the woman’s grief is heavy, and that her sorrow is pouring out into the wood. This connection of the woman’s thoughts to the wood signifies the elements of action and thoughts. Although the woman is the only single character in the poem, she takes the role of a flat character in this piece, in the sense that she represents a single idea. The idea the woman possesses in this piece is that of sorrow. The narrator of the story is the protagonist in this poem. The narrator is not a part of the tragic even that occurred in this poem, but rather a spectator whose goal in this poem is to assess and make sense of the situation. First the narrator glances at the photograph, and then deeply focuses

As suggested by Jimenez and Ongena (2012), balance sheet mainly comprises of items, which could be valued in term of money. On the other hand, Benes et al. (2015) criticises that companies to portray wrong financial statement uses accounting loopholes such as good will valuation. b) Evaluating the impact of accounting information system that helps managers to make adequate economic coercions: Manager of human resource: In the time of economic crisis human resource managers mainly uses the accounting information to evaluate the overall expenditure of the company and effectively sack employees to maintain a profitable position. In addition, accounting measures mainly help the human resource manager to depict the adequate salary to new recruit, which might help in maintaining both profitability and productivity of the company. Demski (2013) argued that inflated balance sheet mainly reduces the efficiency of the decision-making system, which might be used by managers of the company. Factory manager: The manager of a factor mainly uses the accounting information to depict the expenditure, which might be conducted to maintain productivity. In addition, the accounting information mainly helps in depicting the overall cost of production for each unit that is being produced in the factory. With the help of this adequate information, the factory manager is able to maintain the required working capital to support productivity level of the company. Ismail and King (2014) stated that effective evaluation of cost mainly helps the manager to contribute the required funds in its production facility. Furthermore, the factory manager with the help of accounting information is able to implement strategies like zero based budgeting system and activity based budgeting system to control cost and reduce its overall production expenditure. In this context, Abiodun (2012) argued that as zero based budgeting system increases the overall of the company and thus is not used by small and medium scale investors. Australian Football League manager: Australian Football league manager mainly uses the accounting information to evaluate the overall expenditure on players and income generated from played games. In addition, the manager also uses the accounting information to purchase new players, which might contribute to the team and fit within budget. Furthermore, the manager also uses the information to sell its over rated players make profits, which could be used in purchasing other players. Collier (2015) stated that accounting information mainly helps the manager to evaluate the overall expenses and income generated during the fiscal year. Second hand clothing charity manager: In addition, the second hand clothing charity manager mainly uses the accounting information to evaluate the number of second hand clothing collected from donors and distributed among volunteers. Moreover, manager with the help of accounting information is able to evaluate the overall number of clothing collected and sold to collect fund for the charity. Bhattacharya et al. (2013) stated that accounting information mainly helps in managers to analyses the overall efficiency of the company. In addition, the adequate adoption of accoutring system might help the manger depict the number overall increase and decrease in collection of second hand clothing during the fiscal year. c) Depicting the impact of transactions conducted on financial position, performance and cash flow statement of the company: (Refer to appendix) Equipment purchased for cash: After the purchase, an increase in fixed assets and decrease in current assets could be seen in the financial position statement. Moreover, a decrease in statement of cash flow could be seen after the purchase transaction. Receiving payments within 40 days after providing services to the client: Furthermore, in the statement of financial position, a decrease in current assets and liabilities could be seen. However, an increase in income in the statement of financial performance could be seen after the commencement of the transaction. Paying liabilities: Moreover, a decrease in statement of cash flow could be seen after payment of the liability. Furthermore, in the statement of financial position, both current assets and liabilities will be decreased after the payment of the liability. Owner investing additional cash into the business: After the transaction, an increase in current assets and equity in the financial position section could be evaluated. Moreover, an increase in cash flow statement could also be seen after receiving cash. Collecting cash in account receivable: This transaction will only be recorded in cash flow statement, which in turn increases the overall cash flow of the company. In addition, an increase in cash might eventually help the company to maintain high liquidity. Paying wages to employees: This transaction affects financial position, performance and cash flow statement of the company. In addition, in the financial position section a decrease in current assets could be seen. Moreover, in financial performance an increase in expenses could also be seen. Furthermore, an increase in cash flow statement could be seen after the transaction. Paying within 30 days the received electricity bill in mail: In addition, in the financial position section an increase in current liabilities could be seen. Moreover, in financial performance an increase in expenses could also be seen after the electricity bill is been paid. Selling a piece of equipment for cash: Moreover, after the sales in an increase in current assets and decrease in fixed assets could be seen in the financial position statement of the company. In addition, in the cash flow statement an increase in cash could be seen after the commencement of the transaction. Owner for private use withdrawing: The transaction will have a negative effect on financial position and cash flow statement of the company. In addition, in financial position a decrease in current assets and equity could be seen. Moreover, a decrease in cash flow statement could be seen after commencement of the transaction. On long-term basis borrowing money from a bank: This transaction increases financial position and cash flow statement of the company. In addition, in the financial position section an increase in current assets and non-current liabilities could be seen. Furthermore, an increase in cash flow statement could be seen after the transaction. Reference: Abiodun, B.Y., 2012. Security On The Internet Essays - Cybercrime,

Security on the Internet Security on the Internet How do you secure something that is changing faster than you can fix it? The Internet has had security problems since its earliest days as a pure research project. Today, after several years and orders of magnitude of growth, is still has security problems. It is being used for a purpose for which it was never intended: commerce. It is somewhat ironic that the early Internet was design as a prototype for a high-availability command and control network that could resist outages resulting from enemy actions, yet it cannot resist college undergraduates. The problem is that the attackers are on, and make up apart of, the network they are attacking. Designing a system that is capable of resisting attack from within, while still growing and evolving at a breakneck pace, is probably impossible. Deep infrastructure changes are needed, and once you have achieved a certain amount of size, the sheer inertia of the installed base may make it impossible to apply fixes. The challenges for the security industry are growing. With the electronic commerce spreading over the Internet, there are issues such as nonrepudiation to be solved. Financial institutions will have both technical concerns, such as the security of a credit card number or banking information, and legal concerns for holding individuals responsible for their actions such as their purchases or sales over the Internet. Issuance and management of encryption keys for millions of users will pose a new type of challenge. While some technologies have been developed, only an industry-wide effort and cooperation can minimize risks and ensure privacy for users, data confidentiality for the financial institutions, and nonrepudiation for electronic commerce. With the continuing growth in linking individuals and businesses over the Internet, some social issues are starting to surface. The society may take time in adapting to the new concept of transacting business over the Internet. Consumers may take time to trust the network and accept it as a substitute for transacting business in person. Another class of concerns relates to restricting access over the Internet. Preventing distribution of pornography and other objectionable material over the Internet has already been in the news. We can expect new social hurdles over time and hope the great benefits of the Internet will continue to override these hurdles through new technologies and legislations. The World Wide Web is the single largest, most ubiquitous source of information in the world, and it sprang up spontaneously. People use interactive Web pages to obtain stock quotes, receive tax information from the Internal Revenue Service, make appointments with a hairdresser, consult a pregnancy planner to determine ovulation dates, conduct election polls, register for a conference, search for old friends, and the list goes on. It is only natural that the Web's functionality, popularity, and ubiquity have made it the seemingly ideal platform for conducting electronic commerce. People can now go online to buy CDs, clothing, concert tickets, and stocks. Several companies, such Digicash, Cybercash, and First Virtual, have sprung up to provide mechanisms for conducting business on the Web. The savings in cost and the convenience of shopping via the Web are incalculable. Whereas most successful computer systems result from careful, methodical planning, followed by hard work, the Web took on a life of its own from the very beginning. The introduction of a common protocol and a friendly graphical user interface was all that was needed to ignite the Internet explosion. The Web's virtues are extolled without end, but its rapid growth and universal adoption have not been without cost. In particular, security was added as an afterthought. New capabilities were added ad hoc to satisfy the growing demand for features without carefully considering the impact on security. As general-purpose scripts were introduced on both the client and the server sides, the dangers of accidental and malicious abuse grew. It did not take long for the Web to move from the scientific community to the commercial world. At this point, the security threats became much more serious. The incentive for malicious attackers to exploit vulnerabilities in the underlying technologies is at an all-time high. This is indeed frightening when we consider what attackers of computer systems have accomplished when their only incentive was fun and boosting their egos. When business and profit are at stake, we cannot assume anything less than the most dedicated and resourceful attackers typing their utmost to steal, cheat, and perform malice against users of the Web. When people use their computers to surf the Web, they have many expectations. They expect to find all sorts of interesting information, they expect to have opportunities to shop and they expect to

American Government Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

American Government - Essay Example This is because the minority party can have powers to control the interests of the majority party in doing as they wish and desire. In addition, another reason for filibuster in the senate is to keep the senate from becoming a House, which may be succumbed to the passions of the day. In my view, I think filibuster should not be eliminated since it is a remarkably crucial and unique issue in the U.S. government. The filibuster should not be eliminated since it is a strong tool to the minority party. The minority can use the filibuster in making a point or trying to get their way. In the senate, a senator or his minority party can block a full nomination or senate consideration of a certain bill through unlimited debate of a proposal. The use of the filibuster by the minority ensures representation of the minority party in the senate, which creates a balance in the senate. Hence, the filibuster in the senate should not be eliminated since its withdrawal in the senate would threaten fre e speech and debate in the senate. List and explain some of the various roles (constitutional and extraconstitutional) that a president must play. Of these roles, which role do you believe is most important for a president, and why? The American president has both constitutional and extra constitutional roles with which he is associated. One of the constitutional roles of the American president is assuming the role of chief of state. Through this role, the president acts as a symbolic leader of America and abroad. When assuming this role, the president should be above politics. Another constitutional role assumed by the president is that of the chief administrator. In playing this role, the president is responsible for executing all rules and overseeing the bureaucracy. Another constitutional role is being the chief commander. In assuming this role, the president does not play a symbolic role; he decides what to do in times of conflict. The president is given a superior ability in a ssessing and reacting to situations. In addition, the president plays a constitutional role in assuming the role of a chief diplomat. In this role, the president determines countries to negotiate foreign policies and the ones to recognize officially. On the other hand, the president plays the role of a party leader as one of the extra constitutional roles. Another extra constitutional role played by the president is that of an economy manager. In taking this responsibility, the president directs the economy. In addition, another extra constitutional role of the president is being the voice of the people. The president represents all the people for the entire nation since it is the only position, which the whole nation has to decide who will be the leader. Of these roles, I think being the chief commander is the most vital role. This stems from the fact that the president is capable of analyzing situations and coming up with strategies to protect the nation. Describe the process wher eby the Supreme Court sets its agenda, makes its decisions, and delivers them to the public. The process of Supreme Court’s agenda-setting commences when a party loses a case in a lower court, desires the Supreme Court to evaluate the verdict of the lower court, and files a petition for an appeal with the court or a writ of certiorari. After the petition for certiorari and entire accompanying briefs are recorded, the office of the Supreme

Diffusion weighted (DW) Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI Essay

Diffusion weighted (DW) Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI - Essay Example The exploration of diffusion in MRI includes the way MRI is sensitized to diffusion; the effects of spins, both stationary and moving spins; how diffusion-weighted images are affected by physiological motion; the how of the achievement of the various diffusion weightings; and information on diffusion and how those are measured (Hagmann et al. 2006; Mori and Barker 1999, pp. 102-106; Tonarelli 2012; Parker 2004, pp. S176-S178; Everdingen et al. 1998; Barker 1999; Maas 2005; Le Bihan et al. 2006; Yablonskiy et al. 2003; Koh and Collins 2007; Le Bihan 2011; Basser and Jones 2002; Battal et al. 2012; De Foer 2010; Luypaert et al. 2001; Williams et al. 1992; Topgaard 2006) II. Background on Diffusion Diffusion on the molecular level is said to be the result of natural Brownian movement, where molecules randomly move through the diffusion medium because of the agitation caused by thermal characteristics of the medium. In all the displacement of the molecules comes up to zero by mean figure s, but over time, there are positive probabilities associated with the non-zero movement of a molecule, so that over time, a molecule is said to probably have moved from an initial position at an earlier time. Here the time elapsed corresponds to a correlation with the distance moved, where different fluids acting as diffusion mediums determine the distance as characterized by the diffusion constant for that liquid type. There is a difference between the freely diffusing movement of water molecules, meanwhile, to the diffusion of liquids in the tissues of human beings, so that in human tissues one talks of an ADC, or an apparent diffusion coefficient, to be differentiated from the free diffusion coefficients of liquids outside of human bodies, such as those used to characterize water in containers at certain temperatures. On the other hand, for human tissues, various considerations further come into play, such as differences in the mobility of different fluids in different parts of the body and in different parts of a particular organ, such as the human brain. Boundary conditions also differ for liquids found in different body parts. All these affect the coefficient of diffusion in various ways, with the general observation that the ADC is generally smaller in comparison to the free diffusion coefficients of liquids like water outside of the human body (Luypaert et al. 2001; Roberts and Rowley 2003). Going into diffusion types, meanwhile, there are two, one being isotropic diffusion and the other being anisotropic diffusion. In isotropic diffusion, the rate of diffusion is the same in all directions, and so the resulting diffusion distribution is spherical. In anisotropic diffusion, the diffusion rate depends on where the diffusion is oriented, and there is uneven diffusion in different directions. The distance of the diffusion is orientation-dependent, in other words, and the diffusion distribution is characterized by an ellipsoid (Module 1 2013). III. MRI an d Diffusion A. How MRI is Sensitized to Diffusion In a hypothetical case, the typical distribution of displacement of water molecules in such a container is said to follow a bell curve, with majority of the water molecules able to travel only for short distances from their initial location, whereas a few of the water molecules are able to be displaced at further distances from average. For a given initial temperature of the water, moreover,

Letter to a friend regarding interesting experience in Management Class Essay Example for Free

Letter to a friend regarding interesting experience in Management Class Essay Hope all is well at your end. It has been a long time since I last heard from you. I guess you have a busy and hectic university schedule like mine which does not allow you much time apart from your course work. I don’t blame you at all because I know what a roller coaster ride this business studies really is. I am on my summer vacations now so I finally got some time to correspond with you. I would like to update you with my experience so far with my courses. I would specially like to brief you on my enthralling and interesting experience in my Management class. Business studies have an array of different courses to offer. All these courses have their application in real life, if not fully, then at least to some extent. The most common term which is associated with business people is ‘managers’ which brings us to the most basic and necessary course of Management. Management is the basic requirement of any organization and is the foundation of running a business. Without it business would be nil and there would be total chaos and catastrophe. Management has tons of practical application and offers concepts which have vast dimensions and scope. This course has been the most interesting and enthralling learning experience so far in my studies. Of course I can not give you account of the entire course but I would like to mention one very exciting and challenging activity which was conducted in the management class. This activity was regarding teamwork. You must also have learnt a lot in your engineering studies how there are different teams of engineers that take up huge scale projects. Same goes here in our business studies as well. There are various different kinds of teams such as self managed teams, cross functional teams, special purpose teams and so on. The activity which we did was regarding the most famous kind of team; problem solving team. As you must have got the idea from the name, problem solving teams or also famously known as task forces are teams that are formed especially for a problem to be solved which can not be catered to and solved by the existing organizational structure. This team brings in members varying according to the nature of the problem from different departments of the organization. This shows that problem solving teams are cross functional. (Reference for Business, 2010) The activity was conducted in such a manner that our Management course instructor first explained to us all the different types of teams which involved problem solving team as well. Then to demonstrate how the problem solving team really works in the real world he divided our class into different groups. Each group comprised of 8 members each and each group was handed a business related problem which needed to be solved. We were given a time frame of 50 minutes in which we had to come up with a plan of action to solve the problem and then we were required to present it. This was a really challenging and exciting activity. The problem which was handed to my group was that we were required to suppose a business organization that dealt in supplying of different beverages in 48 out of 50 states of U.S.   There were complaints from three major states which were Arizona, Kansas and Colorado. The major complaints were of similar nature that the supply of the beverages was not on schedule, the stock that reached to retailers was not in good condition and that the beverages supplied were not in accordance with the demand of the people. We were required to discover the reasons that why were these problems occurring in only 3 of the 48 states and what erroneous actions were responsible for these three major complaints. We approached this problem in a very professional way. We first decided upon who will lead the group and fortunately the group members general consensus was for me as a team leader. As a team leader I was the one who had to approve the final plan of action with the input suggestions and research of the different members. We decided upon that our team had members from various departments of Finance, Marketing, Sales, Research and Development and Distribution Management. We formulated our problem solving report in such a manner that first we gave a brief introduction of the problems. Then we assumed different logical reasons which could have been behind these complaints. The reasons and findings that we listed in our report were that our suppliers were categorized into 16 different teams. Each team was given 3 states for which they were responsible of supplying the beverage. One particular team was given the states of Arizona, Kansas and Colorado as they are geographically situated close to each other. As the complaints were regarding these three states hence we found that the supplier team was performing some erroneous actions due to which these complaints arose. On further imaginary research we found out the findings for each of the complaints. First we found that this team was complaint about in past as well by number of retailers regarding their lethargic attitude and poor display of punctuality. So it was found out that the team comprised of members who were irresponsible and did not meet the time restrictions of the schedule which resulted in late supply of the stock of beverages. Second complaint was due to the same reason as first. The reckless attitude of the particular team showed that they mishandled the stocks. Beverages are objects held in fragile coverings and bottles and need to be handled with care which this particular team did not display. The third complain was that of the supply not in accordance with the demand which again was due to the poor performance and reckless and untrained staff of this team. They did not record and process the orders properly which resulted in the wrong supply frequently that bothered numerous retailers. So after we had our findings we were now in position to develop a plan of action based on these findings. The plan of action was formed with collaboration with the different departments of the organization. The action decided upon to be taken was that this particular team was to be fired. Other teams would be also appraised on performance to see whether they were a source of complaints in their states or not and whether they are up to the mark or not. All those members that won’t be up to the mark would either be trained or fired. The empty vacancies would be filled by renewed hiring of the staff which would take special care that highly trained and responsible staff is hired. For the entire plan of action to carry out special assistance would be required from Human Resource Department. This concluded our entire report for the solution of problem. We then presented the whole scenario, our findings and proposed solution in front of the entire class. As Group leader I took the responsibility of presenting. It was really good experience to present in front of the entire class. The teacher appreciated our approach to the problem and gave us a few helpful additional suggestions which would give edge to our report. The class also applauded our presentation and our presentation was ranked the best in all the presentations.   All this was due to combined team effort. This was the experience I wanted to share with you. It was not just a moment of pride for me because of the best presentation, but the activity itself was so exciting and fruitful to provide us with concepts that I could not resist but share with you. I am sure you have experienced such exciting activities at your university as well. I am really looking forward to hear from you your eventful time at university. I hope you are having a good time and enjoying the studies because I think you can not learn until you enjoy you studies. Hope to hear from you very soon. I am looking forward to your reply and account of the activities at university. Hope to see you soon. Take care. Reference: Reference for Business. (2010). Teams and Team work. The Iliad of Homer Essay -- essays research papers

The Iliad is the quintessential epic. It is full with gods, goddesses, heroes, war, honor, glory, and the like. However, for just short while near the very conclusion Homer avoids all of those epic qualities. The banquet scene in Book XXIV is the most touching, the most â€Å"human† scene in the entire poem . In the midst of the dreadful gulf of war and anger there occurs an intimate moment between two men who ironically have much in common below the surface. Priam, old and fragile, makes his way to the camp of the enemy’s greatest warrior late at night. He bears what little treasures have not been exhausted by the ten-year conflict and plans to plead for the rightful return of his son’s body. This is his final heroic endeavor. And perhaps, because he has just lost someone so dear to him, he is willing to take the risk despite his fear. What is interesting is that when he does arrive at the camp of Achilles, his fear suddenly subsides and â€Å"the old man makes straight for the dwelling where Achilles beloved of Zeus was sitting.† A decisive moment has arrived for both men. When Priam enters, Achilles knows that he must accept his own death with open arms while Priam is forced to sit at the knees of Achilles and kiss the hands that have killed his beloved Hektor. Homer seems to stop the action for a moment to let us feel the intensity of this extraordinary encounter. Priam urges Achilles to think of his own father and then pity Priam in his outrageous position, a king "who must put my lips to the hands of the man who has killed my children." Achilles immediately accepts Priam’s appeal and the two weep for their sons, fathers, and friends. This sharing of common grief becomes a bridge back to human sympathy. In an amazing speech Achilles soothes Priam's sorrow by painting a picture of their common misfortune and the inevitable limits of mortality. He reminds Priam that â€Å"there is not anything to be gained from grief for his son.† â€Å"You will never bring him back,† he says, â€Å"sooner you must go through yet another sorrow.† Though Achilles has matured dramatically since the beginning of the Iliad the complexities of his character don't disappear instantly. Priam asks not to be seated so he can more quickly attend to the return of Hektor. Suddenly Achilles' anger flashes out. Though his insight and human compassion have developed greatly he is still obstinate an... ...an lot he portrays is grim, his actions show a human decency that somehow softens our sense of what it means to be human NOTE: Observe how the plot structure of the Iliad completes itself. In the first book, a father (Chryses) comes to Agamemnon to plead for the return of his child but is refused. In the last book, a father (Priam) also pleads to Achilles for the return of a child; this time pity is shown. Though this symmetry is surely there, Homer is an artist who permits complexities and contradictions. As you begin to sum up your feelings about the Iliad, test all the threads. The question is not simply is Achilles right or wrong, or are the Trojans or Argives the real heroes. Homer values both cultures. He sees meaning in the heroic code but he also sees its shortcomings. In that same way, he pictures the horrible sufferings of a world at war and yet shows us the human dignity that can shine through. In the beginning Apollo says that mortals maneuver through Destiny with "the heart of endurance." That is where the Iliad begins and ends. It is ironic that Achilles is young and strong and in his prime while Priam is way past his and yet Achilles is nearer to death.

Farewell: Friendship and Various School Activities Essay

We have gathered here today to bid farewell to the students of standard 10th. I am indeed honored to be given this opportunity to represent the students of standard 9th. Just when we start to get comfortable with a person, something comes to alter the recipe. In this context, I would like to mention that for the past few months, the students of standards 9th and 10th have indeed worked very closely together to organize various school activities which have helped us forge close ties of friendship. And now, before we know, its time to say ‘Adieu’. The Bible says â€Å"To everything there is a reason and a time to every purpose under heaven† You all have waited for this moment all your lives, the moment when you leave your childhood behind and step into the real competitive world to forge your own paths in life. We have counted down the years, the months, the hours, minutes and seconds, and finally, that moment has arrived. Most of you all will miss the very heart of your experience as a student; your friends and your teachers.
